Get a clear Valid / Risky / Invalid status with a deliverability score based on 5 weighted factors: format (+20), domain (+20), MX records (+30), not disposable (+20), not role-based (+10). Read the three statuses as instructions rather than labels: send to Valid without hesitation, drop Invalid instead of trying anyway — that is where hard bounces come from — and put Risky in its own smaller send so you can judge it on the bounce rate you actually observe. Risky usually means a catch-all domain that accepts every address, or a server that deferred the first connection; neither is a verdict on the mailbox, which is why no verifier can promise certainty there.
We perform real-time DNS lookups to verify that the email domain exists and has valid MX (Mail Exchange) records configured for receiving email. We display all MX records with their priority levels — results are always up-to-date using live DNS queries. Valid MX records confirm the domain can receive mail; they do not confirm that a specific mailbox exists behind it. On catch-all domains, which accept every address and sort it out afterwards, that distinction is the whole story — no verifier can separate a real mailbox from a typo there, which is exactly why those addresses come back Risky rather than Valid.
